No-one Wants to be
" Put in Detention"
The direction currently being taken in German politics clearly points towards all-day schooling. The aim of the creation of more places in all-day schools is to allow schools to meet the requirements placed by the current social development, while utilising other opportunities which could lead to an improvement in learning achievements.
This demand for both pupils and teachers alike to be present in schools for longer periods of time can only be met if the classrooms are adequately furnished – for no-one should feel as if they have been "put in detention" when they have to return to the classroom after their daily lunch break. It is important for comprehensive concepts to be drawn up to suit all involved, concepts which also take new training facilities and jobs into consideration.
This is the only way to achieve the necessary acceptance and motivation so that the money invested in new all-day schooling can reap the anticipated social and pedagogical successes.
